[Shout Out] OISHI Green Tea Now Available in Singapore

Japanese green tea has captivated the taste buds of the world with its pleasing taste and soothing aroma. F&N Foods recently introduced OISHI Green Tea to the Singapore market. Made from 100% organic green tea leaves and the freshest top three leaves of each branch, OISHI Green Tea offers consumers the authentic taste of Japanese green tea brewed to perfection from organic tea leaves and the freshest top three leaves of each branch.

OISHI promises to deliver products that are refreshingly different from what is currently available in the market. In the new era of green tea, OISHI Green Tea presents an exciting, youthful, dynamic new taste that enhances a familiar experience when the best of both worlds, tradition meets innovation. The brand is all geared up to set a new benchmark and a powerful new wave, with a whole new range of Ready-to-Drink green tea products.

The benefits of Japanese green tea are well told. Chock-full of flavonoids and antioxidants, regular consumption of the tea is healthy and the potent antioxidant content helps to detoxify the body from free-radical damages.

OISHI leads the new revolution of Japanese green tea with its two alluring flavours, OISHI Green Tea Original and OISHI Green Tea with Genmai. Each bottle of OISHI is masterfully brewed using 100% organic tea leaves with no added preservatives and artificial colourings. Only the youngest three leaves at the top of each branch are selected for the brew. Through advanced technology and under the attentive care of experts, the young organic leaves are brewed using a refined manufacturing process to seal in the authentic goodness of the taste of green tea.

The great taste of OISHI Green Tea Original is a welcome thirst quencher. Well-rounded and subtly crisp with a tinge of pleasant vegetal and jasmine note, OISHI Green Tea Original delivers the authentic and fragrant taste of 100% organic green tea with the convenience of just a twist of the cap.

The extensive range of OISHI Green Tea also offers OISHI Green Tea with Genmai. Germinated brown rice or Genmai, is unpolished brown rice, used primarily as a food grain that has been allowed to germinate in order to enhance the flavour and also to increase levels of nutrients such as γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This rice used in Japanese cuisine, has been gaining popularity as a health food because it is considered more nutritious than white rice. The outer bran retains much of the vitamins and minerals that are removed by polishing.

Germinated brown rice has a softer texture than brown rice and a pleasant fragrance, yet retains the health benefits of brown rice, and is marketed as a health food product. Smite your senses with this exquisite variant. Infusing the hearty flavour of roasted rice which lends a nice nutty flavour to the aromatic Japanese green tea, OISHI Green Tea with Genmai completes a meal and is the ultimate refreshing beverage, especially on a hot, balmy day.

OISHI Green Tea Original and OISHI Green Tea with Genmai are now available in handy 380ml PET bottles (S$1.00) and 1.5L PET bottles (S$2.05) at major supermarkets and hypermarkets.

About OISHI Green Tea:

[Shout Out] Coco Life; 100% Coconut Water, Straight From the Nut

Long before coconut water took the West by storm, it has been a popular drink in the tropics, especially in India, Brazilian Coast, Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands, Africa, and the Caribbean, where it is available fresh, canned, or bottled.

Coconut water is so popular today that its annual sales in the United States alone is close to US $1 billion and the demand in the rest of the world is conservatively worth another US$300 million annually. With its refreshing taste and healthful benefits, it is so easy to understand why.

While each coconut may contain about 200ml to 1000 ml of water depending on its cultivar type and size, it is a tough nut to crack! It is easy to appreciate why packaged coconut water is such a hit with consumers. Consumers here in Singapore can now savour the goodness of coconut water on-the-go with Coco Life, F&N’s latest offerings of delicious beverages. Coco Life coconut water is a delicious thirst quencher after meals, after a brisk walk, on a lazy day at the beach or better-yet, after a hectic shopping spree!

When it comes to discovering nature’s best-kept secret, coconut probably tops the list. A staple to the South-east Asian nations, coconut is prized for its husk, flesh and water. Coconut water is as much loved for its invigoratingly sweet and savoury taste as its much-talked-about nutritional perks for overall well-being.

Rich in naturally-occurring electrolytes, coconut water is a delicious hydrating agent that refreshes the body. Its high potassium content is believed to help in blood pressure management. It is also said to boost the immune system with its anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. These, coupled with its vitamins, amino acids and antioxidant compositions, are reasons why coconut water is often touted as nature’s super drink.

Coco Life offers the convenience of drinking coconut water extracted straight from the nut with no artificial flavours, Coco Life is never from concentrate, it contains no fat, no cholesterol, no artificial flavours and hydrates naturally, the way nature intended. To top its all, Coco Life is certified as a Healthier Choice food by the Health Promotion Board.

Coco Life is available in a handy 330ml pack for S$1.50 at major supermarkets and S$2.30 at convenience stores.

[Personal] Rest

Almost a month has passed now since the day i left my full-time job.
Went through a lot in my mind before making the decision to tender my resignation with NHG.
2 years 3 months with them was quite a lovely one though.. Day in and out of NHG HQ office.. the daily greetings from people in the finance department and other familiar faces i met.. Truly, a lot of things and people i really miss about.. This is my first time leaving a workplace having so much emotions, i teared while drafting the farewell letter.. Probably because i feel that im letting my boss and seniors down having made this choice as they were really nice to me.. Nonetheless, am really thankful for the many opportunities and guidance i was given during my service with them..

Farewell lunch treat at fosters with the boss and seniors,

Today, im going to meet one of my favourite lady, Elaine out for lunch and shopping!
Looking forward to seeing her!

Too much going on lately that i feel that everyday i am on a battle..
i guess 2015 isn't a good year for me..
so for now, "what am i going to do next?.." you may ask..
Perhaps, a good long rest and do some planning, and also to be more active in this space! =)
May i have the confidence and courage for my future endeavors!

"Singapore's first Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew has passed away peacefully at 3.18am on 23/03/2015 at SGH where he had been warded since Feb 5 after coming down with severe pneumonia. He was 91 years old.."

I woke up at 7am in the morning and saw this heartwrenching news.. :'(
I teared as i read up.. He was more than a great man, Singapore's hero.
These days, the nation mourns the loss of a remarkable leader..

[Movie Review] SARA 《雏妓》

Please note that there will be special sneaks starting this Friday, 20th to 22nd March!!

Thank you Clover Films for all movie stills!

Main actress of this film, Charlene Choi never failed to surprise and to impress with her performance in acting over the years. She takes a whole new level to her acting as she played a daring role (where she have to be touched and undressed in some scenes) in this upcoming movie - SARA.

The movie depicts the life story of Sara (played by Charlene Choi) from young till adulthood. It was due to a terrifying incident happened to her at home, she decided to leave the house and later becoming a journalist who explores the dark secrets of sex tourism in Asia. In between and before her career as a journalist, she faces a lot of unfortunate events.. As a viewer, i can really feel the pain she had to go through.. (it makes my friends and i teared over it..) surviving alone in the street, falling for someone she should not; witnessing death of her loved ones; and risking her life to save an underage prostitute in a foreign country. Watch how she battle all these in the movie, overcoming her fear and got stronger as she grow.

Overall, this movie gives a very insightful story. I like the storyline. Great acting skills from the actors and actresses in the movie, especially Charlene Choi and Simon Yam. And i like how they highlight current social issues such as sex tourism and child prostitution. Its a show worth-watching!

Brief Synopsis:

Journalist Sara has just spent four months completing an in-depth investigation piece. Her editor-in-chief, afraid of offending powerful politicians and business moguls, refuses to run it. Sara’s boyfriend, who works for the same magazine, chooses not to warn her and even sides with the editor-in-chief. In just one moment, Sara is turned off by her work, her love relationship and even about life.

At this low point in her life, Sara exiles herself to Chiang Mai, Thailand. One evening, while at a bar, Sara meets child prostitute Dok-my. During her time getting to know Dok-my and through the process of rescuing her, Sara becomes haunted by the memories of her own past.

Ximending (Taiwanese Cuisine) Brings Delicious Dishes

西门町 Ximending - home to "classic Taiwanese comfort food with a modern flair. Their dishes reflect the rustic and simple character of popular Taiwanese cuisine; offering a myriad of tastes, yet using traditional ingredients and methods to present dishes with home prepared flavours.."

The restaurant recently got their menu revamped with new dishes included and I had an enjoyable time at the food-tasting session two nights ago, big thanks to beautiful Jessie and the lovely team from creativEATeries for including me in. Knew everyone else in the same table too :) Always feeling thankful for opportunities given!

Do follow Creative Eateries Facebook Page and Instagram as they will be posting promos on that page, so we all get to have the first bites of any in-house promotion!!

Creative Eateries Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/creativeeateries
Creative Eateries Instagram: https://instagram.com/creativeeateries/

I ordered Watermelon Juice that evening.. not bad but i think Chinese Tea is good too!

1. Mixed Salad 什锦沙拉 (with Chicken, Seafood and Pork) S$12.90:
First dish up, mixed seafood salad with homemade goma sauce (Can also opt for another choice of sauce - Xi Men Ding Homemade Sauce). In love with their homemade goma sauce, extremely appetising as a starter! Their goma sauce is specially made by mixing blended tofu with sesame instead of just sesame. Reasonable price with generous amount of Chicken, Pork and Seafood in a large serving bowl.

2. Brazilian Mushroom in Chicken Broth 巴西蘑菇汤 S$7.90:
Chefs will prepare this soup a day before which results in such a savoury broth. It does look simple with only mushrooms and chicken in it but i must say it taste really really good! We can smell the fragrant from some steps away when it was being served to us.

3. Steamed Cod Fish with Radish 菜脯蒸鳕鱼 S$18.90:
Many of us love this dish with lots of crispy radish (Choy Poh) on top of the perfectly cut flavourful cod fish. Steaming hot when its served and cod fish are well-cooked!

4. 'San Bei' King Oyster Mushroom with Basil 三杯杏鲍菇 S$16.90:
'San Bei' in this dish refers to the inclusion of Chinese rice wine 米酒, Soy Sauce 酱油, and sesame oil 麻油 that are mixed together to create a rich flavour.

and it goes well with Taiwanese Sweet Potato Porridge 番薯粥 S$1.50 - Taiwanese all-time favourite!

5. "Xue Cai" Tofu 雪菜豆腐 S$14.90:
So happy they also serve my favourite - Tofu! Preserved veg with Tofu being served in this sizzling hot stone bowl is incredibly fragrant. This dish also goes well with rice/ porridge for some may feel that it will be a little too rich.

6. Radish & Egg Pancake 菜脯蛋 S$12.80:
Pancake look alike.. i find this dish delicious yet is not too overwhelming with too much radish or too eggy and hence can be eaten just by itself. Nicely cut into slices of 8.

7. Sweet Taro Paste 紫金芋泥 S$5.90:
I'm not a fan of any chinese desserts but this bowl of sweet taro paste with coconut milk and gingko nuts really caught me. Beautifully presented. I love the sweetness, creamy and melt-in-your-mouth-texture! So addictive i actually finished the whole portion in minutes! *Thumbs-Up!*

8. Fruity Mochi 水果麻糬 S$6.50:
Lastly, we had the Fruity Mochi (Glutinous Rice Balls) that comes in four different flavours - [from top to bottom] Peanut, Peach, Sesame, Lemon in Red Bean skin. Of all, Sesame is still my personal favourite and Lemon is quite an interesting one.

[Movie Review] FASHION KING

안녕하세요 (Annyeonghaseyo)!

The Korean movie that is now showing in cinemas, FASHION KING, directed by Oh Ki-hwan, starring Moon Joowon from the highly acclaimed drama "Good Doctor" , Sulli Choi, Ahn Jae-hyeon and Park Se-young, is a romance-comedy which tells the story of a teenage boy who transforms from a ‘fashion terrorist’ to a ‘fashion king’ in order to win the heart of the prettiest girl in school.

The movie is based on a webtoon "Paeshyeonwang" by comic artist Kian84 (whose real name is Kim Hee-min), published on Naver from May 5, 2011 to June 6, 2013, which received 4.2 million average weekly views and over 500 million accumulative views.

The word "Dopeness" appears on screen a few time in the beginning of the show, which relates to words such as tight, cool, swag, and awesome - plays part of today's fashion trend. The show did highlight about all things fashion and how looking good changes the way how people see us and hence make our life better? We live in a society in which stereotypes do exists. In school, a nerdy/sturdy look are the ones often attract big bullies.. These are reflected in the movie. Be inspired to see Gi-myeong's life changing moments after learning how to style himself over a semester and expect to laugh your heart out watching how he master it from his fashion mentor, Nam-jung! There are also some very entertaining comical scene in-between that adds interesting effect to the whole movie.

In this movie, I like how finally Gi-myeong is able to stand up from where he falls and comes back fighting for what he wants in life. He showed others that he can turn impossible to possible, with a never give up attitude against all obstacles, not even when everyone else told him to. Not everyone is lucky to born having a pretty face and it won't make a person beautiful, not without a good heart and kind soul.. In the battle between Gi-myeong and Won-ho, it seems that Won-ho may have won the title of top fashionista but Gi-myeong's efforts earned himself the support from the many audiences, friends and family.. A very emotional scene towards the end of the film.

And if you are a fan of any of the korean celebrities, this movie is definitely worth to watch!

Looking adorable in their school uniforms!

Brief Synopsis:

A teenage boy transforms from a ‘fashion terrorist’ to a ‘fashion king’ in order to win the heart of the prettiest girl in school.

With a pair of thick glasses and stuffy appearance to boot, high school student Gi-myeong (played by Joo Won) is mercilessly teased by his classmates on a daily basis at a rural provincial high school, until he jumps on a chance to transfer to a hip high school in Gangnam, Seoul. At the new school, he comes across the girl of his dreams – Hye-jin (played by Park Se-young) – who is a beautiful online starlet. For a nobody like Gi-myeong, he can’t even get close to her due to her massive popularity. As if that was bad enough, her boyfriend is not only one of the smartest students in school, son of wealthy family, but professional model Won-ho (played by Ahn Jae-hyeon). But not the one to let the girl of his dreams just slip through, he vows to transform himself and be a man whom she can admire and be with.

Gi-myeong meets a fashionista named Nam-jung (played by Kim Seong-oh), who teaches him the essences of fashion, such as ‘cool’ and ‘tight’. With the help of Nam-jung, Gi-myeong passes countless qualifying matches, and realizes what ‘tight’ really means. Seeing his face on TV piques Hye-jin’s attention, but he realizes that it is Eun-jin (played by Sulli from f(x)) whom he loves.

Finally, Gi-myeong and Won-ho head for the final round. Unfazed by Won-ho’s threats and violence, Gi-myeong enters the finals with incredible conviction as a chance to transform himself into someone he really is in his heart…
