[Food Tasting] Good Bites At Bishan Sports Hall

Last week, I had a wonderful catch-up session with my girlfriends over a tasting at Good Bites. Thank you Dawn for organising the session and Tracy for gathering us all.

Good Bites is the latest F&B brand under Citrus By The Pool, a café in Bishan Sports Centre offering healthy bowls. Located in the central part of Singapore but away from the busy streets make it a great place to relax in with friends and loved ones. A family-friendly place with baby chair available. The café seats up to 60 pax and is available for private events that can accommodate up to 80 pax.

We visited the café in the evening and as the Sun goes down, the outdoor fairy lights make the external look exceptionally beautiful and dreamy.

Good Bites offers a variety of Western Asian fusion food and beverages with an interesting menu.

We started off by ordering some refreshing coolers.
Tracy had the Iced Lychee Tea while Jessie had the Iced Minty Green Tea with Honey.

Shu Qing and I went for their 600ml thick and creamy Mighty Milkshakes instead. Among the 6 choices in the menu with prices starting from S$8.90, Shu Qing had the Cookie Crush while I had the Strawberry Gem. I love how they topped it with old-school favourite gem biscuits.

HEALTHY BOWLS

With the belief that food can be made healthy and delicious, the café focuses on homemade recipes and preparation methods that retain and maximise the taste and nutritional value of the food. Customers can create healthy bowl based on their nutrition goals and preferences. With 3 portion sizes to choose from - Nom Nom, Munch or Chomp, they can build a bowl from the selection of bases, proteins, supplements, toppings and dressings.

For greater taste and value, one can dig into Good Bites’ Signature Bowls.

Baked Smoked Salmon Bowl (Smoked Salmon, soba noodles, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, cucumber, onsen egg, white sesame seeds) has a great mix of all the goodness in one bowl.

Herb & Citrus Roasted Chicken Bowl (Herb & Citrus Roasted Chicken, brown rice, grilled cherry tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, broccoli, hard-boiled egg and multi-grain tortilla chips) is delicious and appetising.

Pineapple Prawn Salsa Bowl (Pineapple Salsa Prawns, romaine lettuce, avocado, cherry tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, croutons, lemon wedge) is refreshing but I personally find the onions in it was a tad too strong for my liking.

There are three kinds of dressing; namely Tartar sauce, Sesame Soy sauce, and Paprika Yoghurt dressing.

Apart from healthy bowls, they also serve other dishes such as Pasta and Burgers. Dawn told us that their Laksa Pasta is currently one of their customers' favourite dish. We tried and we love it too! It is a dry Laksa linguine with Shrimps, hard-boiled egg, fish cakes, and crunchy Taupok cubes. Great taste and texture, not too dry nor too spicy. Dry Laksa Pasta is not easy to find in Singapore and I am glad that they have it here.

Tom Yum Seafood Pasta is one of the chef's recommendations on the menu, suitable for people who like Seafood and spicy food. The taste is addictive yet very spicy.

One very interesting dish here is the Fried Chicken & Waffle with Butter and Maple Syrup. The fried chicken chunks were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fried chicken chunks also marries well with the Maple Syrup and Waffles.

Egg-ploding Burger looks simple but is actually very delicious too. Tender Fried Chicken thigh with Egg Nachos Mayo sauce in between two soft buns. Served with Cajun fries.

The night ended well with desserts. We had the Homemade Apple Crumble and the Molten Chocolate Lava Cake, each comes with a scoop of ice-cream.

Thank you Dawn for the below pictures!! :)

Sally Hansen's Workshop Tea Party

Joined my friend, Jessie, on a girly treat last Sunday with Sally Hansen. It was a Workshop Tea Party organised by Sally Hansen Singapore held at Little House of Dreams, Dempsey Hill. Pretty cakes and refreshments were prepared for the event.

Sally Hansen has been in the market since 1946 and has become a household name, famous for its dedication to making innovatively-formulated and affordable beauty products. It encourages women from all over the World to DIY, taking beauty into our very own hands. To be salon done but better, because we are empowered to do it all by ourselves.

I ordered Earl Grey English Tea to pair with the lovely cakes.

We were given some nail care tips and were taught on the correct application of nail polish at the workshop. We also get to play around with the different nail polish displayed on the table and tried them on our own nails.

Gel polish can be done at the comfort of own home with Sally Hansen's Miracle Gel polish. It is the ultimate chip-resistant nail polish with patented technology for longer wear. Best of it all, there is no UV lamp required. Their new 2X Volume & Shine Miracle Gel has over 21 shades and is retailing at S$16.90 each.

Nail care starts with the proper technique of nail filing (swift motion towards the centre and each in the same direction) and having a good base coat. Sally Hansen also offers some really great everyday nail care products;

As a base coat, double duty moisturizes and hydrates nails with panthenol. As a top coat, double duty protects with nylon. Nails are shielded with a hard, shiny, chip-resistant finish. (S$11.90)

Complete Salon Manicure Dry & Go Drops : Dries polish on nails in 60 seconds and expect completely dry in less than 2 minutes, preventing smudges and dings. Vitamin E and Jojoba formula helps hydrate and nourish dry cuticles. It gives a smooth, glossy manicure without the wait.

Now there is no reason not to start my DIY nails at home with all these wonderful goodies from Sally Hansen. Looking at how easily my nails usually chipped, i start off with applying the Miracle Nail Thickener and then the Moisture Rehab before going to bed.

Thank you Jessie and Sally Hansen !!

[Food Tasting] Siamese Cat Café

Think about Thai Milk Tea, Green Curry, Tom Yum, Phad Thai, Mango Sticky Rice and Coconut Ice-cream, Siamese Cat Café is one good place to enjoy these all-time favourites Thailand's Cuisine!!

Thanks to my friend, Jessie, for introducing to us about Siamese Cat Café and bringing us over. We had a great dinner together!!

The outlet at Novena Square is a cosy place with pretty limited space but it does not lack on the variety of choices in their menu.

I ordered the signature Thai Milk Tea. We can choose the sugar level for the Milk Tea and i went with 50%. It was good! Rich, sweet and icy enough for a warm day in Singapore.

Their drinks menu also include insta-worthy dreamy coloured drinks such as Butterfly Pea in Purple, Yuzu (soda) in White and Yellow, Gallery Love in Red, Blue Kawaii in Blue, and Galaxy Dream in mixed colours.

Of course, they also have other Thai style Milk Tea, Coffee, and Coco drinks for customers to choose from! And all comes with selection of preferred sizes.

Jessie picked Yuzu (soda) for a cool relieve and Shu Qing picked Avocodo Coco for a more refreshing and rich flavour!

I love how their menu are designed on just one single page so customer can have the idea of what they want to have at a quick glance!

Butterfly Pea Glass noodle caught our eyes as we have never seen any food in the colour of a Unicorn Purple! The serving comes with seafood and cut tomatoes with abit of chili for that hint of spiciness. Taste good on its own or as an appetiser! The glass noodles was well cooked and sauce was well-balanced.

Next, we had the Northern Tom Yum Noodle and it was wonderful. The base was especially delicious and is not too spicy but just nice to consume (as i can't take too spicy food). The serving also includes seafood.

For those who feel that their spiciness is too hot, Mango Salad will be a good add-on for a refreshing taste on your palate. I wish they can put in more peanuts though.

Another great dish will be this Phad Thai with Prawns. I think this is really a serving value-for-money in their café because of its generous portion. The taste is delicious, the noodles texture is soft and smooth, and its not too dry nor having soak in too much sauce or oil.

We moved on to trying out their sweet desserts. i think the price range was pretty reasonable for a café and that the serving wasn't small.

Cookie came to join us for desserts and she picked this Butter Toast with Condensed Milk Milo which was really nice (Milo can't go wrong anyways). Loving the texture of the warm toast!

Coco Yolk, yes this is Coconut Ice-cream with frozen slices of egg yolk. Interesting and yummy!

Lastly, we shared a serving of their Charcoal Mango Sticky Rice together! Nicely served on a kitty wooden plate with a generous scoop of Coconut Ice-cream. What is unique here is the Charcoal infused Sticky Rice for that smoky and exotic appearance.

For all the summer floats lover out there,  Siamese Cat Café is having fancy promotion this month where customers can redeem a cup holder (float) at S$4 each when they purchase a value meal set!

For your information, they have currently two outlets in Singapore. Both serving slightly different menus. The one at Suntec are more towards the Thai and Chinese food fusion while the one at Novena Square are Thai cuisines that many people are familiar to.
