TRUE ITALIAN TASTE is a large-scale educational initiative that is promoted and funded by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and implemented by Assocamerestero. It aims to bring makers of certified, traditional and niche Italian products to the forefront. By raising awareness and educating consumers on how to differentiate authentic Italian ingredients, the campaign is able to create new business opportunities for these producers, benefitting both Italian food producers and food lovers in the process.
Alba itself is a beautiful place but to locate it is no easy task as I got lost at some point while locating the place, even with the help of Google map. Only after a long 15 minutes of walking with up and down hill, I finally reached Alba.
Jasmine came shortly after and i am so happy to see her!
We soon realised that the event was more of a networking session instead of a Food Tasting event. Many of the invitees presented were members of ICCS or business partners. We also noticed that there were more wine tasting than food. Nonetheless, we still gave it a walkthrough and tasted some true Italian specialties.
As i personally enjoy eating cheese so Grana Padano Cheese was the first i had that night and i really love it. It can be eaten on its own like a snack.
Great quality Olive Oil.
Freshly cut Parma Ham by Huber's Butchery. They even have a Bistro at Dempsey, in Singapore.
Last but not least, this Burrata (Cheese) is new to us and we do love the taste and texture. It is served as a good pairing with Bread or Ham. They say Italians can even have this as a dish by itself! It looks more like a cream than a cheese because of its super soft texture. Really interesting!
Thank you ICCS for having us and for giving us a unique True Italian Tasting experience!!
